Youth Pastor

Job Title:  Youth Pastor       
Employee Status: Full Time                
Reports to:  Lead Pastor

Primary Function:

The Youth Pastor should effectively lead 6th-12th grade students and their families to be disciples of Jesus Christ.

 

Requirements:

•      Maintain a growing relationship with Christ.

•      Have a passion and vision for spiritual outreach and discipleship of students and their families.

•      Willingness to learn, to grow, to follow, and to be held accountable.

•      Desire to work as a team by relating to and working with others.

•      Have a calling from God and experience in leading student ministry.

•      Self-motivated and organized to create and implement ideas, programs, and experiences.

•      Listen effectively and communicate clearly, both orally and written.

•      Attend weekly staff meetings and maintain office hours set by the Lead Pastor.

 

Responsibilities:

SHEPHERD

•      Teach students on a weekly basis in mid-week worship (youth group).

•      Develop weekly programming for Sunday and Wednesday worship opportunities for students.

•      Maintain effective follow-up strategies with members and guests.

•      Provide care to students and families in times of spiritual, emotional, or physical need.

LEADER

•      Recruit, train, lead, and evaluate volunteer leaders.

•      Oversee organization, administration, and supervision of all aspects of the Youth Ministry.

•      Maintain communication with staff, other ministries at FBCS, and the congregation about the Youth Ministry.

•      Oversee the budget of the Youth Ministry.

•      Lead the Youth Ministry Committee for active service.

•      Accept additional responsibilities as assigned by the Lead Pastor.

CREATIVE

•      Develop a disciple-making strategy for the Youth Ministry in concert with FBCS.

•      Develop and implement monthly and yearly activities for the ongoing spiritual growth of students and their families.

•      Seek opportunities to serve the local community and schools.

•      Discover and empower students and adults to use their spiritual gifts.

 

Key Programming:

•      Sundays — Sunday school and any additional discipleship opportunities.

•      Wednesdays — mid-week worship opportunities for students (youth group).

•      Additional — monthly activities, camps, retreats, mission trips, and various youth events.
