Who We Are
Our Mission
We exist to glorify God by making disciples in Saltillo and throughout the world. (Matthew 28:18-20)
We know Jesus plus nothing equals everything.
Nothing is more important than a relationship with Jesus. Everything we do is so that people can know and follow Him. We are unapologetic and unashamed of the gospel! (Romans 1:16)
Our Values
We live in the world what we learn in the Word.
The world doesn’t set our standards – the Word does. More than mere decisions for Jesus, we value making disciples of Jesus who are obedient to Him. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
We are better together.
Authentic, transparent, accountable relationships are essential for spiritual growth. We need people to encourage us and push us to become more like Jesus. We refuse to walk alone. (Hebrews 10:24-25)
We give so others can gain.
We gained new life because God gave His Son. We give our time, our resources, and our abilities so that people can meet Jesus. We will be contributors, not consumers. Saltillo is our base, but the world is our mission. (2 Corinthians 9:7)
We know every member is a minister.
The church is more than a building. God is more concerned with a church’s sending capacity than He is with their seating capacity. We pursue servanthood over self. The church is God’s people using their spiritual gifts to love and serve others. (1 Corinthians 12:7; Ephesians 4:12)
Our Strategy
The ultimate goal of this disciple-making strategy is to see our members becoming disciples who make disciples.
Follow Jesus
Helping people begin and maintain a growing personal relationship with Jesus.
Grow Together
Connecting people to small groups because spiritual growth happens best through relationships.
Serve Others
Helping people discover and use their spiritual gifts to love others by serving.
Multiply Disciples
Equipping and deploying people to teach others how to follow Jesus.
Jesus commissioned His followers to make disciples, but what exactly is a disciple? We believe ther are at least four marks of a healthy and growing disciple. We use the acronym S.A.L.T. to define these marks because Jesus told us to be the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13) and because we love our community, SALTillo.
We believe a healthy and growing disciple of Jesus is one who is:
S – Spending meaningful time with God through worship and the Word (How are you spending meaningful time with God every day to become more like Jesus?)
A - Accountable to fellow disciples through community (How are accountable relationships helping you become more like Jesus?)
L - Loving others through serving (How are you serving to become more like Jesus?)
T - Teaching others how to follow Jesus (How are you making and developing disciples?)
Our Goal
What We Believe
-
We believe the Bible is God’s Word. It is completely true in all that it affirms, and every page points us to Jesus.
-
We believe in one God who eternally exists in three persons. God reveals himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being. To Him we ow the highest love, reverence, and obedience.
-
We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He is fully man and fully God, the one and only Lord and Savior who died for our sins and was raised on the third day.
-
We believe that salvation comes by grace through faith in Christ alone. Salvation is a free gift to all who repent and believe. Salvation cannot be earned by righteous living or good works, but it will completely transform our life and eternity.
-
We believe the Church is the universal body of believers. God designed His people to be gathered into local churches who care for each other, grow more like Jesus, and make disciples.
-
We believe that Jesus is coming back. He will return to judge the living and the dead, condemning those who reject Him to perish, but rewarding His followers with eternal life.
-
We believe Heaven and Hell are real. Hell is the eternal, horrifying destination for all who turn from Jesus, and Heaven is the eternal, ever-satisfying home with God for all who trust in Jesus.
